Longterm Nausea & Lethargy

I just read in my blog archives that I had 2 weeks of nausea from the last surgery and am thinking that might be the case this time too.

UGH.

I have this all over feeling of lethargy and nausea. It sucks.

I have not been able to find any information via the web about long term nausea after anesthesia.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Each day there is improvement.

It is just taking awhile.

sigh.

I really couldn't find anything about the long term effects of anesthesia either, but my sister's surgeon told her that it can stay with you for about a year, depending on how long your surgery took and what type of anesthesia you have. When I had my mastectomy, it was the percocet they gave me afterwards that sent me into the nausea and vomitting. Never again with that stuff!!!!!

Hope today i a better day for you!

Here's to hoping it subsides soon. I recall feeling like you describe for about 48 hours after surgery. I think it depends on what they used. It makes sense that your body might be tired of all of it. I've noticed that I'm less tolerant of meds over time.

Sorry, I haven't heard of that either.

Hopefully it improves quickly.

Oh, yeah. Anesthesia most often makes me nauseous. Back in the '70s it was popular for dentists to give gas just for a filling. Many of my friends loved it so I tried it and ended up horizontal for three days. Even after surgery my biggest discomfort was nausea because of the anesthesia since I had a high tolerance for pain. A doctor once told me to mention to my future anesthesioligsts (sp?) about my hyper sensitivity to anesthesia, and that seemed to help--somewhat. Hope you're feeling better, my friend!
